Friends,
As we enter Post Harvey and Post Labor Day, the Gulf Winds team has been working daily, through the weekend and holiday, to prepare for what will be a very busy few months. Thankfully, all of our Houston warehouses and terminals are operating at near 100% capacity!
Port Houston is working diligently through a backlog of vessels waiting to get into the Port. This process started over the weekend and they are making great progress. There have been 12 vessels that have omitted Houston from their plans. Please see Port Houston FAQ Link for a complete list. https://porthouston.com/â¦/porthoustonharveyquestions9_2_17.pâ¦.
If you have cargo on one of the diverted vessels, please contact your steamship line contact directly on their plans for your cargo. In the event the cargo is discharged in another port, Gulf Winds will work to transport the containers back to the Texas region.
We do expect trucking capacity to tighten in the coming weeks as vessel traffic increases. We are already seeing some shortages on certain domestic lanes, as the freight network has been shocked in the last 7 days. We expect this to continue to play out over the next 30-60 days. GWI Warehouses are working on an appointment slot schedule to help manage the increased volumes. Please ensure your carriers are scheduling 24 hours in advance schedule on any inbound or outbound shipment.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we all work together to get cargo moving again. Communication is key and we are committed to continuing to keep you informed.
God bless,
Todd Stewart | President
